A Letter from Pastor
We have accomplished much towards developing 747. Because of the sacrifices of so many of you, we have transformed a broken down farm and service station into a beautiful property with a new road, retention pond and landscaped offices. But the goal is to build a house of worship – a center for fulfilling our mission.
The Love Project, if successful, will provide the funding for us to actually complete Phase 1a of our mission center. As we have in the past, we will also give 5% of our funds to other local and global causes.
I am painfully aware that we are in tough economic times. Some may wonder if we are a little crazy to go forward with this project. But sometimes love does crazy things. The bottom line is that we love God’s world and want to join with Him in redeeming it. That is the spirit of The Love Project. I simply ask you to hear this vision, consider our mission and pray about what contribution you in faith can make to The Love Project.
For Life and Love,
Pastor Terry A. Smith
Testimonies
Mark and Sondra Paulson
“The most significant impact of TLCC’s ministries has been on our children. In the youth culture today, it is crucial for teenagers and children to have a safe place where they can grow into healthy spiritual adults. It is our hope that other families will discover the solid foundation that TLCC provides as an extension of God’s love for the world.”
Raji and Michelle Manasseh
“When we found The Life Christian Church, we were looking for a place to grow spiritually and serve others. While we have found a place rich in these areas, what we really found were deep and meaningful relationships. In a part of the world where most people have left home to find opportunity in the New York City metro area, we have found a level of support and love only experienced within the context of a close and loving family.”
Sandra Jimenez
“I had been searching for a church where my daughter who has autism would be able to actively participate and grow in God. This becomes difficult because she has special needs that must be accommodated, and she also has to feel at home to be willing to have the staff work with her. TLCC was a perfect fit from the start. The KidZone staff is wonderful with her, and the community of TLCC is wonderful. If God had not led me to TLCC maybe I’d still be searching.”
Mavis Bauman
“It is here that, over the last 12 years, I have been taught by Pastor Smith and mentored by my diverse TLCC friends into a close relationship with Jesus. It is also through opportunities at TLCC that I have been able to realize my life-long passion to serve in Africa. Early in our 2008 missions trip to Rwanda, I knew I had found my “other family” and a place to employ my education, experience, heart, hopes, and dreams.”
Ken and Linda Bittman
“It is amazing: each week at The Life Christian Church we both hear the same message and enjoy the same creative presentation and yet as individuals we are uniquely affected where we need it the most. Then as we grow as individuals we also grow closer as a couple and in unity closer to God. The teachings at TLCC are consistently biblical and the challenges offered are biblically consistent. Yes, we desperately want all these things for others.”
Russ Hammonds
“True to its mission The Life Christian Church has played an immeasurable role in helping me grow in my relationship with God and, as an inevitable result, in every aspect of my life. For me, the difference between a life without the impact of TLCC and one with it is the difference between living a life of aspirations and living one with purpose.”
Dedication and Named Gifts
As the facility is constructed, we invite you to share in its purpose and participate in a unique opportunity to extend your Love by celebrating someone special, or honoring someone’s memory. You are welcome to give individually or as a group. Making a Dedication or Named Gift is an occasion for your family and friends to join in a giving opportunity that will create an everlasting bond. If you or someone you know has a desire to honor someone in a matchless way, consider a Dedication or Named Gift.
Once construction is complete, and at your discretion, a private ceremony led by Pastor Terry Smith may be held to dedicate the space in your honoree’s name.
Foundations and organizations are eligible for named gifts.
You can be sure that each gift will be discretely yet clearly recognized, honoring the purpose of the designated space, and the dignity of your honoree.
FAQs
What is the purpose of the campaign?
As Christians, we are called to expand God’s Kingdom and we believe that God will bless us if we are bold enough to take action. As The Life Christian Church grows into the future, we have the opportunity to be part of the group that builds our future mission center – touching lives and introducing more people to a life centered on God. The Love Project is inspired by John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son…” Our prayer is that we will love God’s world so much that we will give so people will know Christ.
How will building help us reach our community for Christ?
Our church is thriving and growing. We are fulfilling our mission “to inspire people to grow in their life with God…” The issue we face is simply this – we are running out of room. We are inspiring many people and believe we are called to inspire many more. The new TLCC building will accommodate and attract a larger cross section of our community and allow us to offer a vastly expanded array of pastoral and leadership teaching, spiritual care and fellowship opportunities.
How will we pay for this?
Even in the midst of a challenging worldwide economic climate, we believe that faith and prayer will lead us to our ultimate goal. Our mission-expansion campaign will challenge each of us to prayerfully consider making a sacrificial commitment to build The Life Christian Church at 747 Northfield Avenue.
How can I help?
We are asking all those who love Christ and the mission of The Life Christian Church to pray and to commit to financially support The Love Project. This commitment needs to be over and above our regular tithes and offerings, which provide the operational funds to do our ministry on a day-to-day basis.
