Giving is an important part of growing in our life with God.
- It acknowledges Him as the giver of everything we have.
- It reflects our trust that he will continue to provide for us.
- It allows us to be a part of God’s impact in the local community and around the world.
- One of the greatest measures of spiritual maturity is how we handle the resources that God has given us. Stewardship, honoring God with our finances, is an important form of discipleship that helps us to become fully developing followers of Jesus.
What the Bible Says about Giving
The Bible says more about giving than Heaven, prayer, or even, faith! Here is just a sample of what God says about giving:
Faithful giving draws me closer to God.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21
Faithful giving is the key to a full life.
“Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” – 1 Timothy 6:18-19
Faithful giving blesses me in return.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” – Malachi 3:10
Faithful giving makes me happy.
“…It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35
Faithful giving reminds me that everything belongs to God.
“But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth…” – Deuteronomy 8:18
Faithful giving is means of worship.
“Give not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7

Frequently Asked Questions About Automated Bank Debit Giving:
What are the major advantages of electronic giving by direct debit?
Automated bank debit is all about convenience for you and consistency for the church. Auto debit eliminates frequent check writing and helps members stay on track with tithes and pledges even when they are unable to attend services. The church in turn benefits from much-needed donation consistency and a reduction in the volume of check and cash contributions that must be handled and manually processed in the church business office.
How does Auto Debit Giving work?
Contributions are transferred automatically from your checking or savings account to the church’s bank account.
How are my automatic contributions deducted and transferred?
First, you sign and return an authorization form to the church indicating the amount you wish to contribute on a regular basis. Contributions are then transferred through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network—the same network already used by families to make mortgage and utility payments or to receive payroll earnings and Social Security income. Auto debit goes by other names including Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), automatic payment, or simply, ACH.
How will I keep track of contributions in my check register?
Since your contribution is made on a date pre-established by you, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date. Electronic contributions will appear on your bank statement.
What can I use to prove I made a contribution?
Periodically throughout the year, the church business office will send you a Giving Statement, which reflects your up-to-date giving, including an End-of-Year Giving Statement every January. Also, your monthly bank statement will show an itemized list of electronic transactions that can be used as proof of your contributions.
Is giving by auto debit risky?
It is certainly less risky than writing checks or carrying cash. To process electronic donations, the church uses Vanco Services, LLC—an established and highly-regarded company that moves funds directly from church members to the church on the day you choose. Vanco processes contributions for more than 10,000 churches and nonprofit organizations.
How much does auto debit giving cost?
It costs you nothing and it costs the church very little. It is the lowest cost method of transferring funds.
What if I try auto debit and don’t like it?
You can cancel your authorization at any time by notifying Kevin McCullom in the church business office at kmccullom@tlcc.org or 973.731.7744 x110.
How can I sign up for electronic giving by direct debit?
Complete, sign and return an automated bank debit enrollment form to the church office.
FAQS
What happens to the money we give?
God provides for the ministry of The Life Christian Church through your tithes and offerings. We honor your gifts with faithful stewardship, ethical business practices, and full accountability so that the financial integrity of The Life Christian Church remains beyond reproach.
What is your position on the use of credit cards for giving?
We encourage the use of a debit card because it is directly connected to the bank account, like writing a check but much more convenient. The reality is that many people prefer to use a credit card. We encourage them to pay their credit card bill in full each month. Doing so is an indication of good stewardship.
Is online giving risky?
It is certainly less risky than writing checks or carrying cash. To process electronic donations, the church uses Vanco Services, LLC—an established and highly-regarded company that moves funds directly from church members to the church on the date of your choosing. The online giving registration form requires you to give us contact information like your name and email aggress. This information is stored in your profile in a secure environment separate from our website.
If I do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance right?
Since your gift is made at a pre-established time, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date.
